Importance of the project
Currently, Most of the students in Government School and Community Based schools belongs to very low economic status . Many of the Government and Community Based school and class rooms are not found child friendly lack of resources .In this context, this project is important for making classrooms, and educational activities child-friendly, interesting and effective to make the teaching-learning process in community schools more effective and provide Parenting Awareness Programs to parents to know the development , psychology and learning styles of their child .
Situation of Early Childhood development in Nepal
Currently, in our country, leaving beside some well-established governmental and community based ECD school and pre- primary level (1- 3 grade) classes; maximum schools lack proper child- friendly playing materials, child-friendly classroom, infrastructures, adequate and proper uses of educational materials while educating children.
Mostly, economically week parents are forced to send their children on governmental schools whereas private school are prime target to economically able parents for their children. Government is also trying their best enhancing and enabling child – friendly environment in teaching –learning prospect but for till date children don’t get enough playing materials, educational learning materials as required on their age basic. Due to lacking in children playing materials, educational teaching –learning materials in the classroom, children are compelled to reading, writing, copying from board, books etc. they can’t develop holistically in their significant childhood. Till long period of time, society assumes children who learn to read and write fast are the good or talented one. It’s hard work to make write children 3, 4, 5 years of age. Children are compelled to learn by heart, carry books, attains exams willing and unwillingly for the sake of schools, parents, society. Naturally children (2- 8 years) love to play, learns from games, runs, hops, actively take part in the games and activities. At school children are forced to sit still folding their hands looking writing on board, learn by rote learning, copying, needs to complete homework by any means, get punishment if they fail to complete task, all these schools’ scenario develops negative feelings toward schools, teachers which might result in school drop- outs in future days. At childhood days parents would scolds, scares, persuade for going to school but eventually children might oppose the parents, teacher’s request.
Early Childhood phase starts form conceiving of baby to 8 years of age, so vital phase to each and every human being life. Various research related to neuron science done in children shows that children development and brain development rapidly happens at this stage.
According to UNICEF report 2016 the children 700-1000 neuron makes new contacts per second which is double than adult. All determines the children physical, mental health, life-long learning, adaptation capabilities and physiological resistance capacity. Brain is so important in human life, whereas lifelong learning needs growth and development of brain, hence period of conception to 8 years are important to every child. Academic performance, emotional development, social development, physical health of all is determined on the basic of opportunity that they get on their first 3 years, 5 years, and mostly before 8 years of age period. Early childhood phase is considered as foundation phase for whole human life.
